Family, faculty, and peers gathered at Bahamas Academy on September 9 to honor the Senior Class of 2027 during their first official chapel service of the school year. Under their class banner, "Chosen," the seniors officially marked the start of their final year with a spiritual dedication and pinning ceremony. Principal LaVonda Smith reminded the class that each student has been called for a unique purpose. Guest speaker Tamika Roberts, founder and president of the Bahamas Kidney Association, delivered an empowering address on perseverance.

Roberts said, “A setback is just an event. It does not have to become your identity. If you fail, learn. You made a bad decision, own it. You went the wrong way, turn around. If you fell, get back up."

Roberts reminded the "Chosen" class that true success is built over time, urging students to stay grounded in their core values and draw strength from the greatness already within them.

The chapel service culminated in the official pinning of the student leadership team as they prepare to take on their responsibilities for the academic year.

Leading the student body for 2026 are Head Boy T’naj Thompson, Head Girl Khushi Kodavati, Deputy Head Boy Luciano Rolle, and Deputy Head Girl Deja Kemp.

Kodavati shared the importance of Christian education in her academic endevors.

She said, "Christian education has helped me a lot in my life because it's allowed me to balance my faith and my education.

“Pursuing my education here allows me to engrave my faith in it, helping me become a better person, a better Christian, and a better student—and to let my light shine," she added.

T’naj Thompson reminded his peers to persevere and put God first in everything they do. 

He said, "To encourage other young people to step into leadership roles... I think you should always be on top of your work if you want to achieve something. The personal scripture I hold close is Proverbs 3:5—'Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.'"

Secretary: Sierra Simmons

Treasurer: Samya Barrow

Chaplain: Beyoncé Knowles

Sergeant-at-Arms: Jaedyn Moss

Parliamentarian: Riya Hanna
