The theme for Global Youth Day 2024 is “Show up in the Cities!” Show up in the cities is more than just a logo for Adventist Youth Ministry. It’s our response to our God’s Great Commission which says, He is “…not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9, NKJV).

The General Conference Youth Ministries Department mandate, “I Will Go”, is our commitment as Joshua-like leaders to lead and send our youth into the enemy’s frontlines. The plan this year is simple, comprehensive, visual, and a practical strategy for engaging the community to address their needs. We will be partnering with the Royal Bahamas Police Force Urban Renewal Division in numerous urban communities, distributing breakfast, health checks, clothes, and literature.

Additionally, youth will be collecting names, addresses, and cell numbers, and conducting needs assessments. Contacts collected will be shared with Urban Renewal and the Jesus is the Answer Gospel Series Bible Study team.

May this year mobilize youth and senior members to send redeemed, revived, and rightly trained youth ages 4 to 30 into the churches, cities, communities, campuses, and unreached countries of the world with the Three Angels Messages.

We are reminded that “wherever possible, students should, during the school year, engage in city mission work. They “the youth” should do missionary work in the surrounding towns and villages. They can form themselves into bands to do Christian help work. Students should take a broad view of their present obligations to God. They are not to look forward to a time, after the school term closes, when they will do some large work for God, but should study how, during their student life, to yoke up with Christ in unselfish service for others.” Counsels to Teachers, p.547
