The beginning of summer always signals the start of Vacation Bible School across the South Bahamas Conference, this year's theme, "Thunder Island: Where Jesus is Always with Me," saw children, volunteers, and churches filled with activities, that reminded them of Jesus’ love.

The Centreville Seventh-day Day Adventist Church kicked off the Vacation Bible School season from June 30th to July 4th, 2024, where over 20 children attended daily. The Bethany and Good News Seventh-day Adventist churches collaborated their VBS experience from July 1st to 6th with a combination of community children, bringing their total number of attendees to 52.

Breath of Life Seventh-day Adventist Church continued the VBS fun from July 7th to 13th with games, lessons, and memories made. Engaged in all the activities suggested in the “Thunder Island” kit the Hillview Seventh-day Adventist Church had their VBS from July 8th to 20th.

And not to be left out of the excitement, the Grant's Town Seventh-day Adventist Church brought their VBS to life from July 15th to 19th. Children & Adolescent Ministries Director Aunty K had this to share with ATV News.

Simms said, “Vacation bible school has officially opened. The season is open, and with visiting all the different churches that would have had their vacation bible school for the month of July, I was amazed and excited to see the different interpretations and how the different churches used the spaces that they have to re-create and to bring to life the theme of ‘Thunder Island’."

"One of my favorite PowerPoints is day 5 where it says, “Jesus sends me always, relax”, which tells us that we need to go as disciples of Christ, we need to go and share his love with others. And I am thankful that our leaders, our volunteers have taken up that mantle to be there for our children as they are engaged in vacation bible school, and it tells me that you are willing to go, and for that I say thank you. Vacation bible school of course continues into the month of August with other churches, but so far, so good. I am absolutely loving what I’ve been seeing.”

In addition to this year’s Vacation Bible School, Philadelphia, and Maranatha churches joined forces with a different VBS program under the theme “Dare to be a Daniel” from July 8th to 20th.

Vacation Bible School continues in the month of August with the Bethel, New Providence, Trinity, and Johnson Park Seventh-day Adventist churches in New Providence and Tarpum Bay church in Eleuthera.
