The Breath of Life Church hosted a seminar on May 5th at the church on Marshall Road, which aimed to encourage attendees to prioritize their health. The event brought together church members and visitors, as they focused on the issue of stress reduction.

Stress is not often seen as a threat, but it can lead to a number of health issues including digestive problems, mental health challenges, and sleep disorders. The seminar featured two key speakers who shared valuable insights on stress management and its impact on overall health.

Certified Massage Therapist Shekira Williams,  spoke about the ability stress has on benefits of alleviating stress and promoting relaxation. She also shed light on ways one can reduce excessive stress.

Williams shared, "Be proactive, so you go at it right away, whatever is stressing you out you do not let it linger. You do not let it overtake you. You just find ways on how you can tackle it and how you're going to overcome. And you only can do that to Jesus Christ as well. And then we have removed uncertainty. So stop saying mummy did that, and that happened, so that’s going to happen to me too, no, it doesn’t work like that okay. You be the change."

Eye Nurse Specialist Serkeitha Meadows, highlighted the effects of stress on eye health, including vision loss and eye strain. Meadows explained the importance of eye care as part of stress management.

Meadows said, "Everyone has a digital device. I mean some of them have more expensive phones than what I have. Children and even babies are glued to these things, smart phone, or even a digital toy. Young people how long do y’all normally stay on these things? And if you don’t tell them to go to bed… [audience responses ‘they ain’t going']. And they hide them, which are signs of addiction, which is a psychological problem."

Participants also received guidance on the use of stress balls as a tool for stress relief, paired with breathing exercises. They had the opportunity to receive free eye checks and well as massages.

The seminar was not only informative but also interactive, allowing attendees to actively engage and learn practical strategies for maintaining their health and well-being.
