From March 23 to 26, the lower division of Bahamas Academy held its annual Math Week showcase the importance of math to God and the world we live in. The initiative was launch with a special assembly. Vice Principal Elmore Jacques reminded the students of how math shapes their lives.
“Math is everywhere,” she said. “It is not just about the right answers but about trying, thinking, and not giving up.” The speaker for the assembly was Math teacher, Monique Hepburn, who shared why math matters. During the week, the students engaged in numerous activities, solved puzzles, and participated in a math costume parade.
The lower division also hosted a career day for the students on March 24, where the students came dressed in different professional attire. The children gathered to hear testimonies from various professionals, including Youth Director Pastor Manasseh Simms, President of the Bahamas Pharmaceutical Association, Dr. Marvin Smith, Emergency Medical Dr. Alpheus Alec, Police officers, Corporal 3928 Goodard, and PC 4621 Gaitor and Associate Communication Director for the South Bahamas Conference Michelle Greene.
