Bahamas Academy Elementary Division hosted its annual Honours Convocation on September 25, bringing together students, faculty, school administrators, parents, and denominational leaders to celebrate academic excellence, leadership, and Christian character.

The event featured guest speaker Mrs. Cindy Stewart, Statistician and Supervisor of the Labor Market Section at the Bahamas National Statistical Institute and Assistant Children and Adolescent Ministries Director for the South Bahamas Conference, who delivered an inspiring address focused on resilience and personal growth.

Using a tree metaphor, Mrs. Stewart explained that just as deep roots hold a tree steady during severe weather, unseen efforts—such as late-night studying, continuous practice, and spiritual faith—provide the stability students need to navigate difficult challenges.

In addition to academic awards, the convocation marked the official installation of the school's new cohort of sixth-grade student prefects, who pledged to uphold leadership and service within the student body. School Principal Dr. LaVonda Smith and Vice Principal Dr. Tamara Dixon led the presentation of certificates, pins, and trophies across several recognition categories, including the principal’s list and honor roll, subject-specific awards, most improved, good conduct, and school spirit honors.

The ceremony concluded with warm congratulations to all honorees as they continue striving for educational and spiritual excellence throughout the school year.

On October 3, Bahamas Academy’s students, faculty, parents, and well-wishers gathered at Hillview Church for the Secondary Division's Annual Honours Convocation 2026. Operating under the inspiring theme "Rooted in Faith, Growing in Knowledge," the event celebrated a year of hard work, spiritual growth, and outstanding academic achievements for the students.

Also in attendance was South Bahamas Conference Education Director Mrs. Juliette Sands, who emphasized in her address that while students often focus on reaching high goals, true success begins underground with the unseen root system of curiosity, resilience, and discipline.

A highlight of the convocation was the keynote address delivered by proud Bahamas Academy alumnus and Lyford Cay financial controller Stanley Floyd (Class of 2014). A highlight of the convocation was the keynote address delivered by proud Bahamas Academy alumnus and Lyford Cay financial controller Stanley Philord (Class of 2014). Philord encouraged students to build deep roots grounded in faith in God. He also reminded the students to remain diligent in their studies, developing their skills even when no one is watching.

The service continued with the award ceremony, where students received recognition across multiple categories: Principal’s List and Honour Roll, Subject Awards, BJC and BGCSE Top Performers. The service also acknowledged Khushi Kodavati as the student with the highest GPA in the school. The South Bahamas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists congratulates all the students who continue to shine brightly at Bahamas Academy.
