The Atlantic Caribbean Union "Strong Finish" Camporee brought together hundreds of Pathfinders, Master Guides, and leaders from across the region for eight unforgettable days of camping in the Cayman Islands. Held from July 4th through 11th at the Stacy Watler Agricultural Pavilion, the South Bahamas Conference was proudly represented by a 57-member delegation led by Youth Director Pastor Manasseh Simms.

The camp officially opened with a much-anticipated ceremony highlighting Pathfinder skills, marching and pageantry. During the opening program, Atlantic Caribbean Union President Pastor Kent Price in his remarks reminded the campers that with Christ they can finish strong.

In his first official assignment as the Inter-American Division Assistant Youth Director, Pastor Marvin Smith encouraged campers to finish strong by keeping their lives anchored in God.

During the ceremony, Atlantic Caribbean Union Youth Director Pastor Andrew Burrows presented Cayman Islands Member of Parliament and Minister Heather Bodden with an official "Strong Finish" Union pin.

The opening night also commenced the nightly production of the story of Samson, where many of our SBC campers played major roles. As the week unfolded, campers participated in a wide range of activities. Day two focused on teamwork through sporting events, where the South Bahamas Conference earned several medals. Day three was dubbed honors day as Pathfinders signed up, showed up and completed the various honors that were offered, which included glass painting, electricity, scrapbooking, web evangelism, and many others.

Day four featured camp inspections, additional honors, community service projects, and skills competitions, including first aid and tent pitching.

On day five, campers enjoyed an educational but exciting visit to the Cayman Turtle Centre, where they learned about sea turtle conservation, snorkelled, experienced the water slides, and later enjoyed a special ice cream and pizza treat provided by the Atlantic Caribbean Union.

The week also included a special celebration of The Bahamas' 53rd Independence, complete with Bahamian games, cultural presentations, and patriotic activities. The day concluded with the campers showcasing their precision and creativity during the highly anticipated basic and fancy drill presentations.

On the final Sabbath, four South Bahamas Conference Pathfinders were invested into their new classes. Jemiah McHardy received the Friend Class, Erwens Maisna the Explorer Class, Joi Robinson the Voyager Class, and Shani Butler the Guide Class, each receiving pins and certificates in recognition of their achievement.

Campers also welcomed a special visit from South Bahamas Conference President Pastor Kenny Deveaux and his wife, Darlene and ATCU Executive Secretary Dr. Cheryl Rolle who spent time engaging with the campers throughout the week. 

As the camporee ended, organizers announced that the third Atlantic Caribbean Union Camporee will be held in 2031, with the host conference to be announced at a later date. From new friendships and personal achievement, the "Strong Finish" Camporee lived up to its name, inspiring campers to continue their journey with Christ and finish the race faithfully.
