Here in the South Bahamas Conference, July is celebrated annually as Youth Month, during which the youth department of the local churches leads church services and activities. This year’s Youth Month was no different. Let’s see how some of the churches highlighted their young people.

The Redemption Church launched its Youth Month on July 5th under the theme, 'Equipped to Serve,' with youth speaker Bradley McPhee. McPhee discussed the meaning of true freedom found in Christ, which involves freedom from sin and a relationship with God.

McPhee said, "Freedom in Christ church, means that you are no longer controlled by sin. The power of the Holy Spirit has now come upon you, and given you the ability to resist your sinful desires. And instead, it guides you towards a path of choosing righteousness and choosing life."

The Bethany Church celebrated the month under the theme, "Rooted and Rising, Growing Deeper in Christ." During one of the weekend services, youth speaker Ken-Tayja Price shared a powerful sermon under the theme "This Generation Will Stand." Price encouraged the congregation to resist the pressure to compromise morality for the sake of culture and trends. She reminded the members to stand firm in God, just as the three Hebrew boys, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, did.

Price said, "Standing for God starts with standing out from the world. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego weren't trying to be famous. They weren't trying to be deep. They were just unwilling to blend in when they were called to stand apart. But listen, God never calls you to fit in, He calls you to stand out."

The Bethany church also hosted two Praise Cafes, which were evenings filled with worship, poetry, drama, and music led by the youth department.

Hillview concluded Youth Month with South Bahamas Conference Youth Director, Pastor Manasseh Simms. Pastor Simms’ sermon encouraged the believers to recognize that God is at work even in our suffering. Trials, he shared, are not just obstacles; they are growth opportunities that allow Christians to remain joyful in God.

Simms said, "Joy isn't denial. Joy isn't fake smiling through the trauma. Joy is rooted in the reality that God is doing something in me, even when everything around me is falling apart. Joy is a belief and an understanding that God is doing a work. We just have to hold on and trust him."

We praise God for the youth in the conference who continue the mission in spreading the gospel and being a light to their churches and communities.
