World Senior Citizen Day is celebrated August 21st each year. This day provides an opportunity to acknowledge the contribution, wisdom, dignity and needs of Seniors. With this day in mind, during Aug 18-23, 2023, The Hillview Seniors Ministry celebrated Seniors Week 2023 where the Seniors planned, organized, and participated in all aspects of the church services for that week.

Seniors Week 2023 kicked off with an enlightening Friday evening Online Vespers Service under the theme, “The Sabbath Draweth Nigh.” The Seniors led the service and gave testimonies and stories of when they were younger, their duties and chores on the “Preparation Day,” every Friday, and their intimate family vespers worship at home.

Seniors Week celebration continued all day Saturday as the Seniors led out in all the Sabbath services Under the Theme: “Resilience Through Christ in a Changing World.”

The day began with an Early Morning Prayer Service where the Seniors invited all to come and cast their cares upon The Lord as they united in prayer. the fellowship continued at the church where the seniors led out with a rousing, spirit-filled Sabbath School Service followed by an impactful Divine Worship Service.

Guest Speaker Dr. John Carey, inspired the seniors and members, encouraging them that despite living in a changing world, Christians need to live victoriously by being resilient through becoming one with and having the mind of Christ.

The Service was followed by a banquet-style fellowship dinner for all Seniors and invited guests. The Sabbath celebration concluded with a Seniors Golden Oldies AY Service, where the Seniors performed in concert, musical items through hymns, songs, musical instruments, and poems.

On Monday, August 21, Senior Ministry leader, Domica Davis, challenged the church to call or visit a senior member and have a conversation with them. Not only to be engaging but gain wisdom to find answers and solutions to some of the challenges many face today.
