The South Bahamas Conference bids farewell to Pastor Jamal Franklyn who has joined the Allegheny West Conference. For nearly eight years Franklyn has served as the youth director, although he began his mission in The Bahamas much earlier.

In 2013, he led a mission project with 22 students from Montemorelos University to plant the first Adventist Spanish Church in Nassau, Bahamas called La Senda de La Vida. He also pastored churches in North Andros, as well as the Bethany and Johnson Park Churches, baptizing more than 200 individuals for the kingdom here in The Bahamas. In his farewell address, he encouraged the church to continue to educate and elevate the youth for God’s mission.

Franklyn said, “I want to commend the churches that embraced youth month. Youth should be integrated into responsible leadership, and in all lines of church work. As young elders, deacons and deaconesses for example, they can work with and learn from experienced officers, Church Manual page 105.”

The youth of the conference also shared inspiring tributes to Pastor Franklyn, thanking him for his work, support, and encouragement.

The full tribute can be viewed on our conference YouTube and Facebook pages. We take this time to also salute Pastor Jamal’s wife, Evelyn Franklyn who worked diligently as a teacher at Bahamas Academy. We congratulate this pastoral family as they begin this new chapter in their lives.
