The Children and Adolescent Ministries Department (CHAM) of the South Bahamas Conference traveled to San Salvador from March 21-22, hosting a weekend filled with engaging activities at the Cockburn Town Seventh-day Adventist Church. The event brought together children, adolescents, and members of the local community under the theme “Running the Race of Faith with Jesus”.

The weekend kicked off with a Friday night vesper service, which was dubbed "Praise and Paint." The service, led by CHAM Directors Kenisha Simms and Cindy Stuart, encouraged the children and adolescents to reflect on their race of faith. During the Vesper service, Cindy Stuart spoke about the key components of running a race which are faith, obedience, love, joy, self-control, and perseverance. After the message, the attendees participated in a painting session, where they were encouraged to create their interpretation of a race, symbolizing their journey of faith.

On Sabbath, March 22, the Cockburn Town Seventh-day Adventist Church was filled with church and community members, along with local leaders. Among the special guests was Island Administrator Mrs. Francis Hepburn-Barr who that this to say.

Barr said, "The children are our future, so anything that we can do to help motivate and encourage them is a plus."

Mrs. Hepburn-Barr also said...

Barr continued, "As we gather on this blessed Sabbath day, let us reflect on our spiritual journey as a race, a race of faith that requires endurance, focus, and reliance on God. We can do nothing without God."

Local Police Superintendent of the Royal Bahamas Police Force Mr. Edison Lewis brought greetings.

Lewis said, "I reflect on your theme "Running the Race of Faith", for we all know that now, faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. And so, as the church progresses today with their ceremony, let us remember our youth. So on behalf of our Commissioner of Police, Ms. Knowles, myself, my wife in her absence and my team, from the San Salvador and Rum Cay division, I just want to congratulate you on this church initiative. Keep 'Running the Race of Faith.'

Attending the Sabbath program was also the San Salvador Marching Band, whose musical contributions filled the church with praise and celebration.

Dressed as Queen Esther, CHAM Director Aunty K, delivered a powerful message in sharing how Esther's unwavering faith and perseverance led to the salvation of many people, further emphasizing the importance of running the race of faith with purpose and dedication.

The weekend event was a reminder of the importance of running the race of faith, but not doing it without Jesus.
