On Friday, September 19th, 2025, Commissioner of the Bahamas Department of Correctional Services (BDCS), Mr. Doan Cleare, C.D., made a special visit to Bahamas Academy School to offer valuable advice and insights to students ahead of their upcoming Bahamas General Certificate of Secondary Education (BGCSE) Examinations.

During his visit, Commissioner Cleare shared the important role the Department of Correctional Services plays in society. He explained the various functions of the department, making connections to the students' own coursework and highlighting key values like discipline, responsibility, and accountability—principles that are critical for both academic success and life in general.

In a heartfelt message to the students, Commissioner Cleare urged them to stay focused and listen closely to their teachers and parents. He also addressed the challenges faced by young people and encouraged the students to embrace positive opportunities for success.

Students eagerly asked questions about life within correctional facilities, the rehabilitation programs offered, and the role of correctional officers in maintaining order and encouraging positive change. 

Commissioner Cleare’s inspiring words left the students of Bahamas Academy motivated to stay focused on their studies and to make wise decisions as they work toward becoming positive contributors to the Bahamas’ future.
