The Bahamas Academy school board shared exciting news last week as they officially appointed Dr. LaVonda Smith as the Principal of Bahamas Academy, effective Thursday, July 11th, 2024. Smith holds her doctoral degree in curriculum and instructional leadership and has 25 years of experience in the field with a 20-year tenure as a teacher and Vice Principal at Bahamas Academy.

Dr. Smith's passion for education and her strong belief in the power of a well-rounded curriculum to shape young minds perfectly align with our mission to prepare students for this life and the life to come.

Supported by her husband, Dr. Marvin Smith, and extended family members, Dr. Smith is poised to continue leading Bahamas Academy toward its goal of preparing students for academic success. On behalf of the South Bahamas Conference, we extend our warmest welcome to Dr. Smith and anticipate the transformative impact she will bring and the positive changes she will make to our school.

Additionally, we express our deepest gratitude to Mrs. Juliette Sands for her exceptional six-year tenure as Principal. Sands currently assumes the role of Education Director of the South Bahamas Conference.
