On September 21, 2024, the global Seventh-day Adventist Church will come together to celebrate World Pathfinder Day,  a special Sabbath set aside each year to honor and uplift the Pathfinders. As the Youth Director for the South Bahamas Conference, I am excited to share why this event is so vital for our youth and the church.

Pathfinders are more than just young people in uniforms—they are tomorrow’s leaders. The Pathfinder Club, open to youth ages 10 to 15, is a transformative program that blends spiritual growth with fun, recreational activities. It is designed to teach young people how to serve God and humanity, and this year we will have the opportunity to recognize their efforts in a tangible and meaningful way.

World Pathfinder Day is not just a celebration of achievements; it’s a powerful reminder of the role Christ plays in each of our lives. Through the sermons, songs, and activities of the day, Pathfinders are reminded of how Jesus is present in everything they do—from learning new skills to participating in community service.

It’s a day when our youth get to see their faith in action, realizing that every badge they’ve earned, every skill they’ve learned, and every act of kindness they’ve performed is part of their spiritual journey.

But why is this day so important? The answer lies in the holistic development of our youth.

World Pathfinder Day isn’t just a celebration of the past—it’s a vision for the future. Pathfinders are trained in leadership, teamwork, and service, skills that prepare them not only for roles within the church but also for life beyond its doors. The program is a unique blend of adventure and responsibility, helping young people to develop a sense of purpose that is rooted in their faith and driven by their desire to serve others.

In a world where young people face countless distractions and challenges, the Pathfinder Club serves as a sanctuary—a place where they can be mentored, encouraged, and empowered to make a positive difference in their communities. World Pathfinder Day affirms their value to the church, their families, and society, reminding them that they are an integral part of God's mission.

This year, as we celebrate World Pathfinder Day on September 21, 2024, let us reflect on the immense contributions our young people make to the Kingdom of God. Let us support and encourage them as they continue to grow in faith, character, and service. And above all, let us celebrate the Pathfinder ministry for what it truly is: a movement that equips our youth to live

lives of leadership, service, and unwavering faith.

Happy World Pathfinder Day!
