International Women's Day of Prayer

Click here to download for print distribution.

In our Church calendar of events, the International Women’s day of Prayer is annually observed on the first Sabbath of March.
On the 7th of March 2020, the women in the South Bahamas Conference will engage themselves in Prayer because we realize that we are living in the last days. It is more than a privilege to pray, but it is a necessity as never before.

In that same spirit of prayer, the women from the Creole speaking Churches will conclude their period of forty days of prayer and fasting with a service of thanksgiving and gratitude unto God for what he has done for us through this period; which began on January 26th, 2020 with a Consecration Service at the Francophone Seventh-day Adventist Church.

The apostle Paul, in Ephesians 5:16, admonishes us to redeem the time, for the days are evil. What better way to redeem the time than by Praying? We are living in evil days, hence the relevance of our theme for this year: “Virtuous Living in an Un-virtuous world and the call to take up our Cross”.

Virtuous is defined as having or showing high moral standards. Being virtuous requires, as women, that we know what we are doing, we intend to do it for our own sake not because we are forced to do it, and that we also act with certainty and firmness. Virtue is not acquired without a deliberate choice. Virtuous living must be a deliberate choice to live up to high Christian standards.

How can we live a virtuous life in an un-virtuous world?

Alfred L. Tennyson declares that “More things are wrought by prayer than this world dreams of.”  This statement highlights the necessity of prayer in our lives.

Furthermore, Ellen G. White puts it so beautifully in her book Steps to Christ, 70, “Consecrate yourself to God in the morning; make this your very first work. Let your prayer be, “Take me, O Lord, as wholly Thine. I lay all my plans at Thy feet. Use me today in Thy service. Abide with me and let all my work be wrought in Thee.” This is a daily matter. Each morning consecrate yourself to God for that day. Surrender all your plans to Him, to be carried out or given up as His providence shall indicate. Thus, day by day you may be giving your life into the hands of God, and thus your life will be molded more and more after the life of Christ.

As we   consecrate ourselves daily to the Lord, read His word, learn it, study it and practice it,   our characters will be changed,  transformed,

thus, we will be empowered to live a virtuous life in an un-virtuous world as we take up our cross daily and follow Christ faithfully. When we pray God listens, He hears, and He moves. As we pray and work together, we can accomplish great things for our Lord. As we unite in prayer, let us be reminded of the great hope of Jesus’ soon coming.
Happy International Women’s day of Prayer!
--Mrs. Valencia Isnord, Women’s Ministries Coordinator, Francophone & Ebenezer churches

Women Saved by Grace Spiritual Awakening & Empowerment Series
Today, we culminate our series, Women Saved by Grace on this our International Women’s Day of Prayer and oh what a blessing the week has been.
Sis. Beverly Williams allowed the Lord to use her in a remarkable way, as scores and scores of women across the South Bahamas Conference came to be filled with the life-changing water of God’s Holy Spirit from  the “well”. My prayer is that we left our sometimes dry, thirsty and sometimes broken service, and exchanged it  for one that transcends more than we could ever think or imagine as we accepted God’s grace, which is greater than all our sin.
