The Psalmist David in Psalm 48:1-2 declares, Our God is a great God, and He is worthy of our praise and honor.

As we at the South Bahamas Conference crossed the proverbial bridge between 2020 and 2021 and glanced briefly into our rearview mirrors, we viewed the many unexpected challenges encountered on our journey as we rounded each corner in 2020. Yet, amidst the challenges, we saw the almighty hands of God leading like a pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night each step of the way.

On behalf of the Administration of the South Bahamas Conference, I would like to register our profound gratitude to each member of this Conference for your faithfulness to God as we navigated the course throughout the year. As we enter 2021, we do so with renewed focus, vigor, and prayerful anticipation, and encourage each person to double their efforts in support of the work that lies ahead. Ellen G. White reminds us, “We have nothing to fear for the future except as we shall forget the way the Lord has led us and His teaching in our past history.”

Empowered by Christ, 2021 is going to be a great year!

I invite you to avail yourselves to be used and to simply follow the leading of the Holy Spirit.

We began this year in prayer and praise with our sister conferences in the Atlantic Caribbean Union, and we want to thank the Union’s leadership in this regard.

PRAYER is the most essential tool of a Christian and therefore we should always be in an attitude of prayer during 2021. Every aspect of our beings must be bathed in prayer as we seek God’s blessings. Just as we began, we will continue in PRAYER throughout 2021. We pray that God will open the windows of heaven and pour out such a blessing that there will not be room enough to receive it. God wants to use us to help finish this work, so in this emerging environment we must be innovative, resilient, and empowered.

Training will also be high on the Conference’s agenda. We begin very early with “Mobilization 300” where we will train and empower a minimum of 300 lay members in the field of evangelism. We would like each member, under the guidance of the Holy Spirit, to lead one person to Christ in the first quarter of 2021. Studies will continue with those new members who will subsequently be trained to be a disciple of Christ to lead one additional person to Christ. I encourage you to register with your church so that you can be a part of this training exercise that takes place during the period January 4-7, 2021.

This year will be remarkable and rewarding as we all surrender our lives to the leading and prompting of the Holy Spirit. Do not allow anyone or any situation to distract you from your walk with Christ. God is our leader, and it is Him whom we will follow from victory unto victory! - Pastor Kenny Deveaux, President, South Bahamas Conference

MEET OUR CONVENTION SPEAKERDr. Paula Olivier is the Pastor of the Ebenezer Seventh-day Adventist Church, Freeport, New York. She has preached across the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, Venezuela, the Caribbean and Israel. Dr. Olivier is also a John Maxwell Certified Speaker, Trainer and Coach. She is founder and creator of the Life Skills Academy that teaches community youth financial literacy, basic automotive, health and job readiness. Her favorite text comes from Galatians 2:20 “I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless, I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.” This is her motivation for ministry–a deep sense of indebtedness to the Cross of Calvary.

HAPPENING THIS WEEK

I WILL GO SBC: MOBILIZATION 300
January 4-7 (7:00p.m. - 9:00p.m.): Evangelism matters. In fact, every convert or disciple had his or her beginning in some sort of Gospel experience—secret or public. As a community of growing disciples, the SBC Personal Ministry Department is making available intensive equipping and training for 300 disciples January 4-7, 2021, 7:00p.m to 9:00p.m nightly. After resourcing the 300 disciples, each one will return to their varied churches to motivate and tool the masses of the membership for discipleship and evangelism in the first quarter of 2021. The signature activity for every church/district will be a virtual evangelistic series. All digital Gospel series should take place in February and March 2021. Those who are not delegates to MOBILIZATION 300 but sense a need to attend may get involved as well. A zoom link will be sent to accommodate all attendees. - Dr. Peter Joseph, Personal Ministries Director.
