“Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me.” Isaiah 6:8 (KJV)

During the initial stages of the pandemic, a friend of mine from my church, La Senda de la Vida, mentioned to me that she would like to continue learning about the bible, even though we could not physically attend church. She is not a baptized member of our church but would regularly attend. She and I formed a friendship during this time, and so, it made studying the bible easier because of our friendship.

Interestingly, before the pandemic started, another friend of mine, Ramone Forbes from the New Providence Seventh-day Adventist Church had given me the digital format of all of the Amazing Facts Bible Study Guides. This was exactly what I could use to begin our Zoom bible study. I credit the Lord, for orchestrating this even before I knew what was happening.

I set out to include persons that I trusted to teach the truth with clarity and simplicity, laymen, and we started inviting persons every week to the study. We started with eight attendees, and we have been up to as many as seventy-plus attendees, from many countries including The U.S.A., Caribbean Islands, and South America.

This study has birthed new ideas and initiatives that will begin to spread the gospel of Jesus in as many ways as possible. The study has been a blessing to many non-Adventists and even Adventists brothers and sisters, who have become stronger in their faith and personal spiritual walk. It has helped me to study the Bible more for myself so that I can teach the truth effectively.

This experience has solidified in my mind the call of the great commission; it has established that we all have a role to play in the spreading of the gospel. A theological degree or a religious title is not a prerequisite to share Jesus, this initiative started by me making a friend.

Under the power of the Holy Spirit, I am empowered by Christ and therefore, I will go, and so should you!

HEALTH TIP

Taking Care of the Immune System

Did you know that God designed your body to fight off infection through your immune system? The most important part of your immune system is the white blood cell system. White blood cells are essential for good health and protection against illness and disease.

Think of your white blood cells as your immune system army. They are continually at war. They flow through your bloodstream to battle bacteria, viruses, and other nasty foreign invaders that threaten your health. When your body is distress and a particular area is under attack, white blood cells rush in to help destroy the harmful invader and prevent illness.

If you don’t take care of your immune system, illness and disease will be the result. One way to take care of your immune system is to decrease your sugar intake. Sugar impairs your white blood cells from doing the job they were meant to do. As little as 3.5 ounces (7 teaspoons) of sugar can weaken the immune system by 50% in just a few hours. According to the Bahamas Steps Survey for 2019, one to three cans of sugary drinks are consumed by the vast majority (92%) of Bahamians daily.
