On February 5th, 2023, the men of the South Bahamas Conference hosted a Men’s Ministries Prayer Breakfast under the theme “Follow Me”.  Our devotional speaker Pastor Kenny Deveaux charged us to commit ourselves to God wholeheartedly. He encouraged us to pray to the Lord, submit to His leadership, read His word, and live God’s word. I encourage all the men of the South Bahamas Conference to put these things into practice in our daily lives. If we follow these principles, we will have greater spiritual influence in our families, our churches, and our community.

“The greatest want of the world is the want of men—men who will not be bought or sold, men who in their inmost souls are true and honest, men who do not fear to call sin by its right name, men whose conscience is as true to duty as the needle to the pole, men who will stand for the right though the heavens fall,” Ellen G. White, Education, p. 57).

The call for men of God to stand up and be counted has never been more urgent. We live in a world where men are challenged on every side to step up to the plate and fulfill their God-appointed role as priests, husbands, and fathers. Towards this end, it is with the help of God that our mission is to “Galvanize the energy and resources of the men of the South Bahamas Conference for God, Family, Church, and Community.” Our vision is to have a cadre of “Men who love and have committed their energy and resources to God, Family, Church, and Community.”

To truly be a man of God, a man must understand his role in his relationship with God. Outside of a personal relationship with God, a man never truly develops into his full potential. A man was created to express the image of God to his wife, children, and community. His role is to lead his family to a closer walk with his God. As we worship God and develop an intimate relationship with Him, we learn to submit to God’s leadership in our lives. One of our goals this year is to conduct a men’s ministries certification course for local church men’s ministries directors. It is our prayer and desire to equip our men’s ministry directors with as many tools as possible to help them build their programs at their churches.

Cognizant of the fact that we have a role to play in impacting the men of SBC spiritually, we have begun a once-per-month online men’s devotional hour named “Men’s Power Hour”. On February 25th, our first speaker for the first Men’s Power Hour was Pastor Leonardo Rahming. Men’s Power hour is scheduled for the third Sabbath every month at 6:00 a.m. I encourage all men, especially our men in the family islands to join us as we submit ourselves to God. The Psalmist says in Psalm 5:3, “My voice shalt thou hear in the morning, O Lord; in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee and will look up.” Let us commit to daily prayer as Jesus our Saviour presented Himself to the father early in the morning.

During the second quarter, we look forward to hosting a males’ summit as well as celebrating the Day of the Boy Child. We are also looking forward to hosting a virtual seminar focusing on Men’s Health. During the last quarter, in the month of November, we are looking forward to hosting a men’s conclave. I am excited about what God is doing and will do in the lives of the men of the South Bahamas Conference and I look forward to us soaring to new heights as we worship, work, and wait for the master’s return.
