1 Timothy 4:12 instructs “Let no one think slightingly of you because you are a young; but in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, be an example for your fellow Christians to imitate.” Furthermore, Isaiah 58:12 prophecies that our ancient ruins will be reconstructed; we shall raise up the foundations of many generations; we shall be called the rebuilder of the breach, the restorer of paths to dwell in. The time is profitable for all of us as youth to rise to the call of Jesus to salvation and service. For the next strategic period (2014-2018), the youth department of the South Bahamas Conference will execute under the theme, “We Will Rise Leaving No Youth Behind…Not To Compete but to Complete”. This is a clarion call from God to us as youth to set a standard of righteous living for the world to emulate, while we actively wait the eminent return of Jesus. It is a call for the Character of Jesus to be intricately knitted and inextricable bound to our individuality as youth. Therefore, it will be an imperative to rise out of mediocre lifestyles, habits or practices. Our nation is now greatly affected by the global pandemic of crime, violence, juvenile delinquency, ungodliness, broken families and myriads of other social ills. However, there is still Hope for a change to be effective in our homes, churches, schools, communities and nation but we must commence the rising. As Youths of the South Bahamas Conference, our core values must be that we exist for the purpose of Giving Glory to God, Integrity, Respect, Compassion, Lifestyle, Dedication and Unity. Therefore, our mission is to reach and lead young people into a saving relationship with Jesus Christ and help them embrace His call to discipleship and active service as directed by His Word. May our watch words be… ‘Becoming (I want to be more like Jesus), Belonging (I am a youth of the South Bahamas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists),, Transforming (I will rise), and Serving(leaving no youth behind),’ Your prayers and support for Schkara, Karelle, and I, will be greatly appreciated as we embrace this call to service in youth Ministry. As we all join hands and hearts in this endeavor, we will leave no youth behind, from every island, street and corner we will rise as an army of youth to execute the Savior's Mandate.
