The weekend of September 28 to 29, 2018 was packed with inspiration at the Good News Seventh-day Adventist Church, Flamingo Gardens, Nassau, The Bahamas. T. Basil Sturrup, church pastor, led the church in celebrating its thirtieth anniversary. The celebration commenced on Friday night with the dynamic preaching of Pastor Paul Scavella, president of the South Bahamas Conference of Seventh-day Adventists and continued on Sabbath morning where Pastor Leonard Johnson, executive secretary of the Inter-American Division of Seventh-day Adventists. They both preached powerful sermons under the theme "Ebenezer-Hither to, Has the Lord Helped Us."
During both of these services a high point was the beautiful and moving singing by various musical groups and soloists. The Praise Team melodiously lead the packed congregation in singing great hymns such as, "Love Lifted Me," "And Can it Be," "Marvelous Grace," "Draw Me Nearer." The already inspiring service rose to an even higher peak with the appearance of the acclaimed Adventist gospel group, Harmonious Praise, when they uplifted Jesus in singing two gospel songs: "Total Praise" and "He's Able," This enriching and stirring Sabbath service was followed by a sumptuous fellowship meal for all.
The Good News Church began in 1988 after a successful evangelistic series conducted by Pastor Jeffery Thompson who also served as the first pastor of the church. Other pastors over the years have been Pastor Victor Cargin, Pastor Neville Scavella, Pastor Lynden Williams, Pastor Hugh Roach and Pastor Leo Rolle.
Praise God for Good News Church.
